Million Mile Bike Ride 2017
Million Mile Bike Ride 2017 was a year long campaign to encourage all supporters and fundraisers to contribute their cycling miles to collectively ride 1,000,000 miles throughout 2017. In doing so we set a target to raise £250,000 to support 21 Children’s oncology units throughout the UK. The money raised will provide services and equipment specific to each unit’s requirements and the individual child’s needs, for example;
- Bikes, trikes, static exercise bikes, turbo trainers etc.
- Specialist rehabilitation equipment.
- Personal Training consultations by Cancer Exercise Specialists and group exercise classes.
All of our supporters, cyclists and fundraisers did a fantastic job and helped to make our Million Mile Bike Ride was a great success, smashing our 1 million mile target in early December and finishing the year on a whooping 1,036,691 miles!
To make the challenge even more interesting we introduced leader boards. Competition was close at the top of the distance leader board with top place constantly changing. Everyone has put in some amazing miles whether as part of a team or individually.
