| BEVERLEY & CARL - WORKINGTON TO NEWCASTLE COAST-TO-COAST 140 MILES | |||||

 Shunning skinny road tyres and the relative comfort of smooth tarmac, Carl Marshall and Beverley Ferguson got on their mountain bikes and tackled 140 miles of rugged terrain on their Coast to Coast epic from Workington to Newcastle. Even better, they raised over £500 for Cyclists Fighting Cancer.  Not content with working as a full time Macmillan nurse AND completing a BSc in Palliative Care, Beverley had been on the lookout for a new challenge and was sizing up the ride for some time. The main problem was finding someone with whom to ride it. Enter Carl.Carl works as a Stuructural Estimator for en engineering firm in Lincolnshire. Both he and Beverley are keen cyclists but Carl had never done any sponsored riding before. The Coast to Coast seemed a great opportunity and the pair decided to go for it. They completed the ride over three days, staying in Greystoke and Nenthead. It was much more difficult than they expected. Beverley said, "In terms of training I did one 20 mile round trip to M and S which wasn't enough. There were some big hills on day two of the Coast to Coast but we managed." Their fundrasing target was £500 and as you can see from their Just Giving page they have gone past that. A huge thank you from CFC to Carl and Beverley for their efforts!
